Moderate intensity tremor jolts Kashmir
April 4th, 2011 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, April 4 (IANS) A moderate intensity tremor jolted parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Monday evening following a 5.7 magnitude earthquake centred at the India-Nepal border. No loss of life or property has been reported so far.
“A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred at 5.01 p.m. today with coordinates latitude 29.6 degrees north and longitude 80.86 degrees east. The epicentre of the tremor was located on India-Nepal border,” an official of the local weather office said here.
For the last one month, around half a dozen light and moderate intensity tremors have jolted the state, though these have not resulted in any loss of life or property.
