Moderate 5.3 quake hits Andamans
July 9th, 2010 - 12:22 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 8 (IANS) A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at 7.17 p.m. Thursday, but there were no report of casualties.
The quake struck off the coast of the North Andaman island, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The epicentre was located at 14.5 degrees north latitude and 93.2 degrees east longitude at the depth of 36.3 km, IMD said.
