Mock security drills held in two Delhi markets
May 20th, 2010 - 11:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 20 (IANS) Mock drills were carried out by Delhi Police in two busy markets of south Delhi Thursday, officials said.
The drills were carried out at New Friends Colony and Greater Kailash-II.
According to police, the mock drills were conducted to check the preparedness of security agencies in case of a terrorist attack.
New Friends Colony witnessed the first drill around 12.30 p.m. The drill followed a “bomb blast” in a community centre.
Around 2.30 p.m., another exercise was carried in GK-II.
“These were regular exercises which we carry out from time to time,” a Delhi Police spokesman said.
