Mobile phone snatcher arrested
March 13th, 2011 - 11:02 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, March 13 (IANS) A man who snatched mobile phones in crowded markets during the day and stole stereos from cars at night has been arrested, police said Sunday.
Sunil Kumar, 34 was involved in 14 cases of theft and robbery and was arrested Saturday near India Gate in central Delhi on a tip-off, police said.
According to a police officer, Sunil targeted crowded markets like Janpath, Conaught Place, Sarojni Nagar Market or fairs at Pragati Maidan He would closely follow his victim, snatch the phone and melt into the crowd.
According to police, he would sleep in parks inside residential colonies and steal stereos from cars at night.
“He confessed to snatching more than 20 phones and we have recovered six of them. An iPod and two car stereos have also been recovered,” the officer added.
