Mob violence after truck mows down boy in West Bengal
October 13th, 2009 - 9:45 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Oct 13 (IANS) An agitated mob damaged and set fire to a few vehicles, including a truck which had mowed down an 11-year-old boy in Kolkata’s twin district Howrah Tuesday, police said.
“The accident took place on the GT Road near Shalimer Gate in Howrah when Gokul Poddar, 11, was returning on a bicycle from tuition,” a senior police officer said.
Following the accident, an agitated mob went on rampage and ransacked the truck. Later, they set the vehicle on fire.
The locals also damaged a few other vehicles and set two private buses on fire.
