Joshi and police chief Karamveer Singh here Thursday to seek help in tracing him.
Shinozaki is missing since Sep 5, 2006 when he reached Agra and checked in at the Chanakya hotel there.
“We met the governor and the director general of police and requested them to re-investigate the case in which the Agra police has already filed a charge sheet,” his mother Eiko Shinozaki, told media persons in Lucknow.
“The DGP admitted that the charge sheet is not satisfactory and has promised us to re-investigate the case,” Prof. Ohashi, the interpreter accompanying the family, said.
According to the Agra police, seven people were arrested soon after Shinozaki went missing. While the owner of the hotel, Kishori Lal Mahor, who was a former mayor of the city, and four others got bail after some time, two others, including Shinozaki’s guide, are still in jail.
Shinozaki’s sister, Yoshie, said they had met the guide, Gautam, in the jail and asked him for any information, but he had not revealed anything.
Shinozaki’s mother and sister have made four visits to Agra since 2006 and have also met senior government officials to seek help.
“We will be going to Delhi today (Thursday) and will again meet officials of our embassy and the Indian government. We would also like to request the state police to take up our case on priority,” his mother added.
