Minor raped in east Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS) An eight-year-old girl has been raped in Pandav Nagar of east Delhi, police said Monday.The victim’s mother had sent her to buy something from a nearby store at around 7 p.m. Sunday but a man, yet to be identified, took her away and allegedly raped her, police said.

“When the victim returned home at around 9 p.m. she was bleeding. Her parents were scared and took her to a hospital where doctors confirmed rape,” a senior police officer said.

The parents then informed police.

“The victim told her parents she had been taken to a deserted place near the Akshardham temple and then raped. The man left her at the spot and then fled from the spot,” the police officer added.

The victim is a primary school student and her father works in Pandav Nagar.

Further investigations were on, police said.
