Minor fire in Mumbai’s Taj Mahal hotel
June 27th, 2009 - 2:53 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, June 27 (IANS) A minor fire engulfed the upper floors of the heritage building of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel here Saturday afternoon, fire brigade officials said. No casualties were reported.
“We have sent four fire tenders and eight water tankers to battle the blaze. Efforts are on in full swing to control the fire. We are awaiting more information,” the official said.
The hotel was one of the main targets during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
The heritage building had borne the brunt of the terror attacks and large parts of it are still closed for repair and renovation.
According to preliminary reports, the fire could have been caused by a short-circuit.
