Mild quake in Orissa, no damage reported
April 19th, 2011 - 2:26 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, April 19 (IANS) A mild earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale was felt in Orissa early Tuesday, officials said. No damage has been reported.
The earthquake occurred at 3.14 a.m. and was felt in Nirakpur area of the Khordha district, director of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre S.C. Sahu told IANS.
Citing a preliminary report, he said the epicentre of the quake was located at about 50 km south-west of state capital Bhubaneswar.
An official of the state revenue control room said no damage has been reported from the region.
