Michael Spiller wins Emmy for directing best comedy series

Los Angeles, Sep 19 (IANS) Michael Spiller won the Emmy for directing the best comedy series for “Modern Family”, which takes a satirical look at three dysfunctional families.

It was “Modern Family” day at the 63rd annual Emmys Sunday here.

Steven Levitan and Jeffrey Richman won the Emmy for writing the best comedy series for “Modern Family”, while the Emmy for best supporting actor in a comedy series went to Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen won the award for best supporting actress in a comedy series for the same.

Melissa McCarthy bagged the Emmy for best actress in a comedy series for her performance in “Mike & Molly” that tells the story of a couple who meet in a weight-loss support group.

The Emmy for best actor in a comedy series went to Jim Parsons for “The Big Bang Theory”, which is about two socially awkward physicists and their new neighbour.
