Metro guard tries to save kid, falls on track
January 28th, 2012 - 10:15 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS) A Delhi Metro guard sustained minor injuries Saturday when he fell on the track at Rajiv Chowk station while trying to save a toddler from falling, an official said.
According to Metro officials, just as a train left the station towards Vaishali on the blue line at around 11 a.m., a four-year-old child started walking towards the track and was on the edge of the platform when a guard saved him, but ended up on the track himself.
The guard, Hemant Kumar, 22, was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. “He had a minor injury and was released from hospital after treatment,” a Metro official said.
The child, Aditya, is the son of a Indirapuram-based businessman.
