Messi is extraordinary, he is great: Sabella
September 3rd, 2011 - 12:42 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Sep 2 (IANS) After a solitary goal win over Venezuela in a FIFA Official International Friendly here Friday, Argentina’s new chief soccer coach Alejandro Sabella lauded Messi as an extraordinary player, and said he was the toast of soccer fans all over the globe.
?I think Messi is for football… Messi is a great player… he is extraordinary. And I think whatever he plays on the field a lot of people look up to him because he is extraordinary,? said Sabella at the post-match media conference.
Argentina beat Venezuela 1-0, with Messi setting up the goal with a measured flag kick that was headed in by Nicolas Otamendi.
Messi was the star of the evening, as he spearheaded the Argentine moves with brilliant ball distribution and was a constant source of danger for the Venezuelan defence.
The crowd was all along behind Messi, who showed Friday that he deserves all the adulation, despite his unfamiliarity with the artificial turf.
