Merkel thanks US in Congress

- Merkel,former East German physicist now chancellor of Germany took to politics after the collapse of communist East Germany in 1989,lauded US efforts to reunify her country,reminisced her growing up in East Germany.
Merkel in her speech to Congress on Tuesday on subjects from fiscal crisis,terrorism,nuclear,economic sanctions to work for a new global financial order to Climate change.
Merkel thanks to the US presidents, in his emotional speech at US Congress US Presidents,John F. Kennedy to Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, for unification of Germany and the leaders meet at anniversary in Berlin on Nov 09.
“Twenty years ago, even travelling to the US, let alone standing here today, would have been beyond my imagination,” she said. “We know how much we owe you and we will, I will never forget this.
She spoke of global rules,”Without global rules or transparency and supervision, we will not gain more freedom, but rather risk the abuse of freedom and thus risk instability.”
“German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on a visit to the US, today said there can be no agreement on efforts to tackle climate change at the UN conference next month in Copenhagen without taking India and China on board.
“There can be no agreement without India and China. No doubt about it, in December, the world will look to us, to the Europeans and to the Americans. And it is true, there can be no agreement without China and India,” she said to a round of applause while adressing a joint section of the US Congress.
“But I’m convinced, once we in Europe and America show ourselves ready to adopt binding agreements; we will also be able to persuade China and India to join in,” she said.
