Mentally challenged man battered to death
December 31st, 2010 - 4:34 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS) A 32-year-old mentally challenged man was beaten to death by his neighbours over a petty issue in west Delhi, police said Friday.Jai Prakash Pahuja was repeatedly hit on the head with a brick outside his home in Nihal Vihar Thursday night when he laughed at his neighbours Jasbir Singh and Charanjeet Kaur, who were returning home from work. The neighbours owned an egg cart.
“As the couple were passing by the victim, one of the wheels of the cart got stuck in an open manhole and some of the eggs fell off the cart. Seeing this, Pahuja started laughing which enraged the duo who then repeatedly hit him on his head with a brick,” a senior police official told IANS.
Pahuja was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The couple has been arrested.
