July 9th, 2011 - 11:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 9 (IANS) A mechanic was killed and another man injured when the compressor of an air-conditioner exploded in a hotel in south Delhi Saturday, officials said.
“The deceased has been identified as Jamshed, an air-conditioner mechanic, while the injured is identified as Shiv Kumar, a gardener,” said a police official.
“The incident was reported around 3 p.m. in Qutab Hotel when someone switched on the main current line when Jamshed was repairing the AC’s compressor,” a fire department official said.
The injured man has been admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.
The hotel, however, denied any such blast occurred on its premises.
“This is false news as nothing happened. There was a minor blast in cooking gas cylinder and there was no injury,” a hotel official told IANS.
