McGregor to take part in charity yacht race
August 8th, 2011 - 10:02 am ICT by IANSLondon, Aug 8 (IANS) Actor Ewan McGregor is set to take part in a sailing race for charity.
The “Trainspotting” star will hop onboard a yacht with sailor Alex Thomson for the 50-mile high speed sprint around the Isle of Wight.
The team that wins will get 10,000 pounds that will go to their chosen charity. And McGregor has vowed to donate the cash to the food crisis in East Africa if he wins.
“I’m excited to experience the thrill of yacht racing from the very deck of the boat and I’ll be doing my best to help Alex win so that we can donate the prize money to UNICEF’s East Africa Appeal,” dailystar.co.uk quoted McGregor as saying.
“There’s never been a more important time to support the children of the region who so desperately need our help,” he said.
Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter and newly-wed Zara Phillips, is also taking part in the annual Artemis Challenge Aug 10.
