MCD orders internal inquiry in CWG projects
October 23rd, 2010 - 8:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which has been accused of financial irregularities in the Commonwealth Games-related projects, initiated an internal inquiry into its works, an official said Saturday.
“The vigilance department of the civic body will carry out an independent inquiry into the matter and will submit a report at the earliest,” MCD Standing Committee chairman Yogendra Chandolia told IANS.
He also said the report will have answers to the questions being raised about the money spent on Games-related projects.
The corporation was involved in various projects like street-scaping, refurbishment of roads near Games venues, construction of the foot overbridge and the parking facility near the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
