New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) A Delhi court Friday granted interim bail till April 17 to Madhav Prasad, a Bharatiya Janata Party councillor arrested for allegedly instigating his supporters to knife a party worker to death.
Jai Prakash, 37, a painting contractor, was killed Tuesday night by the supporters of Madhav Prasad at the Azadpur railway station in north Delhi.
District Judge-cum-Additional Sessions Judge A.K. Chawla granted interim bail to Prasad on a personal bond of Rs.50,000 due to the civic elections Sunday.
Virender Yadav, complainant and close friend of the victim, opposed the interim relief for the councillor.
His counsel Nitin Ahlawat opposed the accused’s application saying that Prasad may tamper with evidence.
