McCain like ‘Alice in Wonderland’ March Hare: Russian speaker
December 7th, 2011 - 9:48 am ICT by IANSMoscow, Dec 7 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Speaker of the Russian State Duma Boris Gryzlov has compared US senator John McCain to the March Hare from “Alice in Wonderland”, after McCaine predicted an “Arab Spring” for Russia.
“McCain more and more reminds me of the cowardly March Hare. It’s December already and he is still thinking of spring,” Gryzlov, one of the leaders of Russia’s ruling United Russia party, wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, McCain, known for his staunch criticism of Russia, tweeted a message: “Dear Vlad (Vladimir Putin), The Arab Spring is coming to a neighborhood near you.”
The senator added a link from his Twitter comment to a Wall Street Journal article which stated that “widespread evidence of voter fraud” will sour Russia’s relations with Western capitals “in the coming days”.
The “Arab Spring” is a term used for the revolutionary wave of demonstrations that began in the Middle East and North Africa around December 2010. Till date, there have been revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Yemen. Protests have also taken place in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Oman and a few other countries.
