Mumbai, Dec 26 (IANS) Indian equities markets fell sharply in afternoon trade Friday, with a key index trading 130 points lower than its previous close. By mid-afternoon, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading at 9,438.6 points, a fall of 130.12 points or 1.36 percent from its previous close of 9,568.72 points. The fall came after the Sensex maintained its level throughout morning trade.
At the same time, the broader S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell by 33.5 points or 1.15 percent to be at 2,883.3 points.
Market index midcap fell a marginal 0.38 percent from its previous close while the smallcap index fell 0.57 percent.
