New Delhi, July 4 (IANS) Kannada actress Maria Susairaj’s rumoured participation in the fifth season of reality show “Bigg Boss” has drawn extreme reactions from celebrities like anchor Mini Mathur and filmmaker Onir.
However, an official from Colors channel denied the reports that Maria, who is in news for the killing of television executive Neeraj Grover, is one of the contestants.
“If Maria Susairaj actually gets cast in ‘Big Boss’, I will officially stop working in the TV industry. Will we stop at nothing for TRPs? SHAME,” Mini posted on her Twitter page.
Maria was in jail along with her fiance, navy officer Jerome Mathew for the 2008 killing of Grover. She was found guilty of destroying evidence and walked free Saturday after having served as an undertrial the the three years she was sentenced to. Mathew was sentenced to 10 years in jail. The duo had been charged with chopping up Grover’s body before burning it.
Onir wrote: “It’s a shame that how someone who has helped chop a human being will be soon making money because of it. Thanks to television.”
Editor-filmmaker Shirish Kunder chose to take a dig by saying: “Thanks to Maria Susairaj, ‘Bigg Boss’ is trending (on Twitter). Am not sure if Maria will be good in ‘Bigg Boss’, but ‘Masterchef’ could use her chopping. If Maria Susairaj is in ‘Bigg Boss’, evicted contestants will be going out in plastic bags.”
When the rumours blew out of proportion, Colors channel, which airs “Bigg Boss”, sent out a clarification.
“There are numerous speculative stories on Maria Susairaj’s participation in ‘Bigg Boss 5′, we’d like to clarify we have neither approached Maria nor will be doing so in future,” said a channel spokesperson.
The new season of “Bigg Boss” is said to be hosted by actor Sanjay Dutt.
