Maoists’ strike hits life in two Chhattisgarh districts
November 27th, 2009 - 8:06 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Raipur, Nov 27 (IANS) A day-long shutdown called by the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Friday in Dhamtari and Raipur districts of Chhattisgarh hit normal life as people preferred to stay at home fearing violence, officials said.
The strike was called to protest arrest of two Maoist leaders in the state Nov 8.
Leftist radicals put wooden logs on roads in forested areas of Mainpur, Gariaband, Devbhog in Raipur district and Nagri and Sihaba areas in Dhamtari district to block vehicles.
All schools, banks, hospitals and government offices in the interiors of these two districts were shut, officials said.
