Maoists kill village headman
September 14th, 2011 - 11:55 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Sep 14 (IANS) Maoist rebels Wednesday killed a village headman in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police said.
The body of G. Surraiyya, who was sarpanch of Pollampalli, some 500 km from state capital Raipur, was found on a jungle road.
“Surraiyya was abducted by the Maoists Tuesday and killed with a sharp-edged weapon. Initial reports say that he was killed on charges of spying for the police and local authorities,” an official at the police headquarters here told IANS.
