Maoists kill Special Police Officer
February 11th, 2011 - 1:36 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Feb 11 (IANS) Maoists Friday gunned down a special police officer (SPO) in an interior part of Orissa, police said.Narenga Mallik was killed near Denguda village in Kandhamal district while going to a police station.
“We are awaiting details,” Superintendent of Police S. Praveen Kumar told IANS.
The incident took place a day after Maoists attacked a police outpost and set furniture and other stuff on fire in the same district.
Maoists are active in more than half of Orissa’s 30 districts. Kandhamal is considered a rebel stronghold.
