Maoists kill Jharkhand Party activist in West Bengal
October 12th, 2009 - 6:18 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Oct 12 (IANS) Suspected Maoist guerrillas killed a Jharkhand Party-Naren activist in West Bengal’s Maoist-hit Binpur area. The body was found lying near a canal Monday, police said.
Kanai Murmu was abducted late Sunday from Shalpatra village in West Midnapore district by a group of six unidentified Maoist rebels. The locals found his body near the Kapatkata canal.
“We’ve already begun investigation into the case,” a police officer said.
In another incident, a group of armed Maoist guerrillas ransacked a local Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader’s house in Purulia district Sunday night.
The incident took place at Serenghetu village when the rebels set Chandra Shekhar Layer’s house on fire and injured him severely, police said.
