Maoists kidnap two police personnel in West Bengal
November 10th, 2009 - 11:49 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Nov 10 (IANS) Two police personnel were abducted by the Maoists ultras in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Tuesday evening, police said.
Two police cleaners - Ram Chandra Hela and Rajendra Hela - were abducted by the rebels from near Munidaha area in the district, police said.
According to sources, the two men were kidnapped from Dharampur police camp.
Top Maoist leader Kishenji alias Koteswar Rao also owned the responsibility of the abduction.
“Both of them were abducted as prisoners of war (POW). We’ve also informed their families about the incident. They are in good health,” Kishenji said.
“They have been arrested by the Maoists in protest of growing violence on the villagers in and around Lalgarh region by the joint forces,” Kishenji added.
