Maoists damage Orissa’s power generation unit
December 20th, 2009 - 2:42 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Bhubaneswar, Dec 20 (IANS) Maoist guerrillas damaged a part of Balimela power generation unit in Malkangiri district of Orissa, police said Sunday.
“Around 15 Maoists Saturday night damaged a part of the power generation unit by bombing and manually destroyed one valve house of the unit,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Sanjeev Panda said.
“The extent of damage would only be known after an assessment by the departmental team. Power generation from the unit has been stopped,” he added.
Malkangiri is more than 600 km from Bhubaneswar.
