Maoists blast mobile phone tower in Orissa
February 14th, 2010 - 3:23 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Feb 14 (IANS) Maoist guerrillas blew up a mobile phone tower in Orissa’s Koraput district early Sunday, police said.
“Maoists have blown up a mobile (phone) tower in Baipariguda in Koraput,” District Superintendent of Police Anup Sahu told IANS.
About 20 armed Maoists first asked the guard to leave the place and then blew up the tower using a landmine.
In a separate incident, two Maoists were arrested in Mayurbhanj district during a search operation Saturday.
According to the police, the two were allegedly involved in several incidents of violence, including an attack on a guard house inside the Similipal National Park.
