Maoist nabbed in Uttar Pradesh
September 19th, 2011 - 6:13 pm ICT by IANSSonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh), Sep 19 (IANS) A Maoist, who operated in Bihar and Jharkhand, has been arrested from a forested area of this Uttar Pradesh district, police said Monday.
Vijay Chandrawanshi, 42, was nabbed Sunday from the Churk area following a joint operation by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the district police.
“Vijay was an active member of the gang of Maoist zonal commander Munna Vishwakarma in Jharkhand,” Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar told reporters in Sonbhadra, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Vijay, who is a native of Bihar, had at least six criminal cases against him,” he added.
According to police, a pistol and some cartridges were recovered from Chandrawanshi.
