Maoist leader’s body found in Uttar Pradesh forest
December 4th, 2009 - 12:43 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Lucknow, Dec 4 (IANS) Police in Uttar Pradesh have recovered the body of a Maoist leader, wanted in more than 30 criminal cases in three states, from a forest and arrested two of his colleagues who said he was killed in a gang war.
The body of Ramvriksh Kol, 44, was found late Thursday in the Amila forest in Sonbhadra district, about 250 km from here. He carried an award of Rs.50,000 and had more than 30 criminal cases against him in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, police said.
“He (Kol) died in the fight for supremacy among Naxalites (Maoists). His body was recovered late Thursday evening from the Amila forest of the district,” Sonbhadra district police chief Pritendra Pal Singh told reporters.
His two colleagues, Amarnath Kushwaha and Rakesh Mishra, who were arrested during the combing operation, said he had died in a gang war, the police official added.
The duo have also given vital information about the hideouts of Maoists in Sonbahdra district, he added.
