Maoist arrested in Uttar Pradesh
July 16th, 2010 - 10:59 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, July 16 (IANS) A hardcore Maoist, who is believed to be involved in killing of two policemen and seven alleged police informers in Bihar, has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district, police said Friday.
Dinesh Ram, a native of Bihar’s Rohtas district, was nabbed late Thursday from Pathera forest area in Mirzapur, about 350 km from Lucknow, following a gunfight with the police.
“Around two years ago, Dinesh had carried out a blast that killed two policemen in Rohtas. Moreover, he is also accused of killing seven police informers in the same district,” Superintendent of Police K. Satyanarayan told reporters in Mirzapur.
According to police, Ram is an active functionary of the Sudama Uraon gang that primarily operates in Bihar.
A rifle and several live cartridges have been recovered from Ram’s possession, police said.
