Maoist ambush kills three cops in Bastar
October 21st, 2011 - 9:20 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Oct 21 (IANS) Three policemen were killed on the spot Friday in an ambush by the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the insurgency-hit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, police said.
“At least three policemen were killed and a few others injured when rebels attacked them near the forested village of Netanar in Bastar district with an improvised explosive device (IED) and then opened indiscriminate firing,” an officer at the police headquarters told IANS.
The casualty figure could rise, he added.
Extra forces were rushed to the site, located about 300 km south of capital Raipur.
