Manmohan Singh Sanya (China), April 12 (IANS) Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Wednesday on the sidelines of the five-nation block BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) summit in this idyllic coastal city of China.

The two leaders will discuss ways to accelerate their ties, particularly in trade and economy.

According to sources, Manmohan Singh and Medvedev will focus on enhancing trade relations which the two nations believe have “not been explored to its highest potential”.

India and Russia have set up five joint working groups for increasing trade in the sectors including information technology, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers and manufacturing.

The sources said that some entities have already been identified in pharma and “manufacturing units for these are coming up in Russia”.

The sources said the two leaders would also review strategic cooperation in defence, space and energy.

The Wednesday meeting between the two leaders is the second between them since December when Medvedev visited to New Delhi.
