Manila, May 15 (IANS) Even as Himmat Rai failed once again over the weekend, seasoned Divijay Singh logged a top-five finish with a 71 on the final day at the ICTSI Philippine Open golf on Sunday.

Berry Henson of the United States held off a late charge from local hope Jay Bayron to win his first Asian Tour title.

Himmat Rai, who led for first two days shot 79 on the final day, was even worse than his third round 77. Rai, who was six-under for first two days, was 12-over for the final two rounds. He finished tied 28th.

Among other Indians, Manav Jaini (73) was tied 37th, Chiragh Kumar (75) was tied 44th as was Sujjan Singh (79), and Vikrant Chopra (75) was tied 51st.

Digvijay Singh shot three birdies in his opening five holes before closing with one birdie and three bogeys in a round of 71.

“I have to credit my performance this week to my wife, Chitra, because we spoke a lot on what has to be done on the course,” said Singh.

“I told myself to go out there and enjoy my round and I did just that by thinking of my wife. Overall, it was a good result for me,” said the 39-year-old.
