Man wanted in US found in London
September 26th, 2011 - 6:55 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Sep 26 (IANS) A 42-year-old convicted paedophile, one of America’s most wanted criminals, has been found living secretly in London, a media report said.
Shawn Sullivan was tracked down in Barnes, South West London, The Sun reported.
The American national is wanted in his country since 1994 for allegedly molesting two 11-year-old girls and unlawful sex with a girl of 14.
Minnesota state authorities want him extradited to face charges. If found guilty, he could face 25 years in jail on each count.
Sullivan, originally from Fort Benning, Georgia state, was reportedly also given a suspended jail sentence in Ireland for sexually assaulting two 12-year-old girls, the daily said.
In 2007, international police organisation Interpol added him to its “most wanted” list.
Sullivan was picked up by Scotland Yard in 2010 after he moved to England from Ireland.
In December 2010, he was granted bail but told to wear an electronic tag.
However, he is allowed to stay in Britain until a decision is taken by the home secretary whether to extradite him to the US.
