June 21st, 2010 - 11:49 pm ICT by IANSMeerut, June 21 (IANS) A man trapped in a borewell for hours in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district died Monday before he could be rescued, police said.
Krishan Pal, 48, a resident of the Ichauli town of the district, 350 km from Lucknow, got trapped in the 40 feet borewell that was dug in his field for constructing a tube-well.
“He (Pal) himself had given the contract to some labourers for carrying out the boring exercise. In the morning Pal accidentally fell into the borewell. It was only after a couple of hours, some locals found him trapped and informed us,” police inspector Rakesh Srivastava told reporters here.
“We along with the district administration, tried our best to rescue Krishan Pal, but could not save him,” he added.
