Man starves to death after locking himself in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, June 3 (DPA) An elderly man is believed to have starved to death after locking himself in a pump room at a Hong Kong shopping mall, police said Tuesday. The unidentified man is thought to have been locked in the eighth-floor room at the Metropolis Mall in Hung Hom for one week.
His body was discovered Monday by security guards after foul smell spread in the area..
Maintenance records showed the locked room had not been visited by staff for at least a week.
Police weren trying to identify the man. A post-mortem examination was expected to take place Tuesday.
