New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) A man was Monday shot at and thrown off a flyover in east Delhi by two motorcycle-borne assailants, who fled with the Rs.6 lakhs he was carrying, police said. He was admitted to hospital where his condition is said to be critical.According to police, Kuldeep, 32, a supervisor at a television picture tube company at Harnam Place near Jyoti Nagar area, was on his way to deposit the company’s cash in a bank when he was attacked and robbed at around 9.30 a.m.

“Two-bike borne assailants overpowered Kuldeep on the flyover connecting Jyoti Nagar with Ghaziabad’s Loni area, shot him in his hand, snatched the bag containing cash and threw him off from flyover,” said a senior police officer.

Some passers-by made a call to Police Control Room and a police team rushed to the spot. “The victim was rushed to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where he is recuperating from bullet and multiple fracture injuries. His condition is still critical,” said the police officer.

Police suspect the assailants might have been following the victim for many days to track his routine and Monday, they attacked him when he was on his way to deposit the money.

“The motive behind throwing him from flyover was to kill him. We have rounded up several people and are investigating,” said the officer.

“We have registered the statement of victim and some eye-witnesses in the case. Prima facie it could be a handiwork of someone close to the victim. We are probing the case from all angles,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Sanjay Kumar Jain.

Jain, however, added Kuldeep probably fell off the flyover during the tussle with assailants.

A few days earlier, on the same route, a businessman was robbed of Rs 8 lakh when he was heading to buy a car from a nearby Maruti showroom.
