September 30th, 2011 - 2:22 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Sep 30 (IANS) A man armed with a fake gun robbed a gold shop in Shanghai. He told police he picked up the modus operandi from the movies.
The suspect smashed a counter and grabbed six gold bars from a store in Jinshan district. However, five of the six bars turned out to be fake, used by the store for display. One gold bar was real, worth about 20,000 yuan (around $3,100), the Shanghai Daily reported Friday.
Witnesses said the man threatened the store assistants with a gun-like object.
He was arrested after four days. Police found the fake loot in a garbage bin. Most of the items were made of wood and iron.
