Man robbed of Rs.5 lakh
January 22nd, 2011 - 12:14 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) A 65-year-old man was robbed of Rs.5 lakh near his house here while he was returning from a bank after withdrawing the money Friday.Bhagwan Bansal, a retired MTNL employee, went to a Corporation Bank branch at Punjabi Colony in Narela, north Delhi at around 4 p.m. to withdraw cash.
While returning home, near Bhudu Devi Hospital, two bike borne assailants snatched his bag and fled.
He raised alarm and some residents tried to follow the robbers but to no avail. Police were informed. In his complaint, Bansal said the motorbike was without a registration number.
“The robbers might have followed the victim from the bank,” a police officer said.
Bansal stays with his elder son, Yogesh, and is in a vegetable business along with him at Narela Sabzi Mandi.
