Man receives his death certificate!
January 21st, 2011 - 12:16 am ICT by IANSNoida, Jan 20 (IANS) Police said Thursday that they were investigating how a man in Sector 22 area here received his death certificate. The family of Ishwar Chand Sharma, a resident of Chaura Raghunathpur area in Sector 22, were shocked when they received a registered post Jan 14 which had his photocopied death certificate.
According to the document, Ishwar had died Aug 18, 2010 at his house. The certificate was issued Aug 30.
“After receiving the letter, we complained to Sector-24 police station on Sunday. They are doing their job now,” Ishwar Chand’s son Dev Dutt Sharma said Thursday.
Sub-Inspector Lokendra Singh said: “It is not yet clear from where the certificate was issued. The seal at the bottom of the certificate is unreadable. I went to the district hospital and they have denied issuing the certificate.”
The family members said they were fighting a case in the Allahabad High Court regarding compensation for their land in their village.
“The court is likely to give a verdict in our favour. This could be done possibly to affect the verdict by showing a member as dead and then transferring the money in someone else’s name,” Sharma said.
