Man posing as cop, aide rob Rs.8 lakh in Chandigarh
November 13th, 2011 - 12:52 am ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 12 (IANS) Two youths, one of them in fake police uniform, Saturday looted a web designer of Rs.8 lakh at gun-point on a busy road between Sector 48 and 49 here, police said.
Abir Malhotra had withdrawn the money from a bank and was heading home in his car when the youths signalled him to stop.
Since he was talking on the mobile while driving, Malhotra stopped the car thinking that police wanted to issue him a ticket for traffic violation. One of the culprits also threw a brick on his car.
After he stopped the car, one of them came and pointed a gun at him, while the other took away his bag containing the money.
Deputy Superintendent of Police B.S. Negi said that investigations into the looting incident were being hampered as there were no CCTV cameras in the area.
