January 25th, 2010 - 5:48 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kolkata, Jan 25 (IANS) A West Bengal villager allegedly poisoned his wife and two children before killing himself, police said Monday.
According to police, the incident took place Sunday night in Bankura district’s Khichki village, about 165 km from here, when Debdulal Ghosh allegedly killed his wife Bandana, son Subhankar and daughter Seema by mixing poison in their food.
While Seema and Subhankar died on the way to hospital, Bandana breathed her last after she got there.
Debdulal fled from the house with the bottle of poison. His body was found in a field Monday afternoon.
“Apparently, he also consumed poison,” Bankura superintendent of police (SP) Bishal Garg told IANS.
Why he took the extreme step is still being ascertained. One of Debdulal’s relatives said he had a bitter quarrel with his wife Sunday night.
