Man looted of Rs.330,000 in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, July 24(IANS) In a daylight robbery Thursday son of a diamond factory owner was robbed of Rs.330,000 by four motorcycle borne men near Lingda village in Anand district of Gujarat, the police said. Hitesh Patel and his friend Dhwani Pandya had come to Vidyanagar’s Express Bank to withdraw money. Hitesh is the son of Nagin Patel who owns a diamond factory in Dakor.

Hitesh and his friend were on a motorbike on the Anand-Dakor road when four men on two motorcycles came close to them. One of them kicked Hitesh’s motorcycle.

As he and his friend fell down, the robbers began beating them. Snatching the bag containing the money, two of the robbers got into a car, which was following them and drove away in the direction of Dakor, while the two bikers went in the opposite direction towards Anand.

The police have sounded alert in the district and some motorcycle riders have been held on suspicion.
