Man kills wife, three children, commits suicide
December 9th, 2009 - 1:23 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Lucknow, Dec 8 (IANS) A man allegedly killed his wife and three children before committing suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, police said Tuesday.
Vinod Kumar, a 35-year-old resident of Rampurkala village in Unnao, hacked his three children - aged between three and eight years - and wife to death and later hanged himself, a police official said.
“We are probing the matter. What prompted Kumar to kill his children and wife is still to be ascertained,” district police chief N. Ravindra told reporters.
Kumar, who was a farmer, used to have frequent altercations with his wife, police said.
Villagers told the police that Kumar started taking drugs nearly two months ago.
The bodies of Kumar, his wife and children were recovered Tuesday and have been sent for post-mortem examination, police said
Unnao is some 60 km from Lucknow.
