Man kills himself after shooting girl
April 11th, 2011 - 11:17 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, April 11 (IANS) A 25-year-old man here shot himself dead after firing at a girl student who allegedly turned down his marriage proposal, police said Monday. The girl has been hospitalised in a serious condition.
Abhai Verma (25) took own life after firing at Neetu (22), a business management student at the Dayal Institute of Management, in Gudamba locality.
“While Verma died on the spot, the girl was rushed to a hospital. Her condition is stated to be critical,” Lucknow police spokesperson Anand Srivastava told reporters here.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the man shot the girl and killed himself in a fit of rage after an argument over the marriage proposal,” he added.
