Man kills daughter’s lover for family’s honour
September 14th, 2010 - 2:25 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Sep 13 (IANS) In a suspected case of honour killing, a youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut district was shot dead by the father of a girl with whom he was in a relationship, police said Monday.
The girl’s father Vinod Kumar has admitted to killing the youth to safeguard the family’s honour, police added.
Vinod Kumar shot dead Sudhir Kumar, 23, Sunday in Satwai village.
“Vinod asked his 21-year-old daughter to call Sudhir at his home on the pretext of meeting him and later shot him dead inside the house,” Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anant Dev told reporters in Meerut, some 350 km from here.
According to police, Vinod was arrested late Sunday while he was on his way to dump the body in the fields outside the village.
“Vinod has confessed to his crime and also admitted that other family members were also involved in the killing,” said another police official.
