Man kills daughters in Bengal, buries them
March 13th, 2011 - 9:18 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, March 13 (IANS) A man in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district killed his two daughters and buried them by the bank of a river. He has been arrested, police said Sunday.
“Rajesh Singh of Kushpata village near Ghatal was arrested Saturday night following a complaint by his wife Sudha Singh. He had confessed to the crime,” West Midnapore Additional Police Superintendent (headquarters) Sukhesh Jain said.
“During interrogation Rajesh confessed that he had killed his daughters and buried them by the river bank. He was taken to the spot this (Sunday) morning and the girls’ bodies were recovered from the bank of Ichamati river,” said Jain.
Rajesh’s wife lodged a complaint with Ghatal police station Saturday night, alleging that she was severely beaten up by her husband.
Her two daughters — Tanushree, 3, and Anushree, 2, were missing since evening and when she asked Rajesh to lookout for them, he started beating her, a police officer said.
Jain said: “According to local people, he committed the crime because he was not happy since his wife gave birth to girls.”
