Man killed by suspected Maoists
July 11th, 2010 - 7:20 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, July 11 (IANS) A 55-year-old man was killed by suspected Maoists in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district Sunday, police said.
The body of Umakanto Mahato, a resident of Mathurapur village, was recovered from the Nimtala area of Salboni. The body bore gunshot injuries and Maoist posters were found from the spot, a police source said.
“We have started an investigation,” district deputy superintendent of police (operations) Aneesh Sarkar said.
Maoists are active in three districts - Purulia, West Midnapore, and Bankura - of the state.
