Man jailed for three months for not repaying bank debtMarch 27th, 2009 - 11:34 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Friday sentenced a man to three months’ imprisonment after he failed to repay a debt of nearly Rs.100 million to a Britain-based bank.
Justice S.N.Dhingra in his order said, “It is apparent that he is living a comfortable life, in a luxurious house, with servants and cars, but he has acted with a malafide intention. If he had been poor, then he would not have been able to engage a lawyer in high court first and then a lawyer for filing objection and then for appeal.”
Naveen Khilnani was a businessman in Dubai and had a debt of nearly Rs.100 million to Mashreq bank but did not pay even after a British court ordered him to repay the amount.
